St Joseph's House of Prayer
St Joseph's House of Prayer is the home and ministry of the Order of the Companions of Martha and Mary (OCMM). Based in the lovely village of Tunstall in Lancashire on the edge of the Lake District with beautiful views over Lancashire, Cumbria and Yorkshire. We offer a ministry of a quiet space and prayerful presence for all those who need 'time out' from the busy-ness of life.
At St Joseph's House of Prayer the Sisters have a regular programme of Quiet Days and a monthly Contemplative Prayer Group. Visitors are welcome to join the Sisters in their regular round of Daily Prayer. The Sister are open to bookings at short notice for a quiet day or even a couple of hours respite for rest and reflection.
We can accommodate individuals for quiet days where we offer your own sitting room with tea and coffee making facilities. We invite you to join us for our times of prayers and for lunch.
Small groups can also be accommodated for Parish Away Days and Quiet days. Tea and Coffee is available at set times within your programme and lunch provide. We can offer three areas for the use of the group. A comfortable number would be between 8 and 10 people.
The work and ministry of St Joseph's House of Prayer is entirely self-funded and relies on donations. We do not have a 'scale of charges' choosing to rely on the generosity and donations from those who visit our house and from individuals, groups and parishes who whis to contribute towards our ministry.
